  • Summary:

Excerpt from the Prologue, by Kathryn Poethig:
Called Out offers a new reading of lesbian and gay theology within the Presbyterian Church. This theology is less concerned with biblical and theological defense for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered identity. Its primary attention is on the ordination of lesbian and gay people, the issue riveting the Presbyterian Church. As a whole, these stories offer us a theology of “called-outness.” All contributions in this book overlap categories and all contribute to this theology.
