From the Synod of Lincoln Trails Newsletter

Celebrate the Ministry of Carol McDonald at the All New Pastors Reunion November 21-23, 2013

Surely you who went through the synod’s New Pastor program have thought about attending the reunion in November. While we’re together, we will take time to honor Carol McDonald. She has managed the program and more importantly, nurtured many of you in your ministries within and outside of congregations, within the bounds of our synod and outside our bounds as ministry has taken you across the mountains or an ocean. Carol is approaching her retirement in 2014 so this is a great opportunity to us to thank her for her ministry with and for us, to the glory of God!

The retreat will be held at Hawthorn Suites in Champaign, IL, beginning with supper Thursday evening, followed by worship, play and reflection. Ending after breakfast on Saturday morning.

Your cost is ONLY $100! Spread the word among your old new pastor friends!

Reunion of New Pastor Alumni

Plans are Unfolding for a GREAT Reunion of New Pastor Alumni

Music, music, music! The planning team is thrilled to report that two exceptional musicians will be joining us for the reunion. David Eicher, Editor of the PCUSA Hymnal (Glory to God), AND Rev. Heidi Weatherford, pastor of McKinley Presbyterian Church will lead our worship offerings. David is a talented accompanist and, of course knows the music of our new hymnal inside and out. He’s squeezing our event in to his full cross-country schedule to introduce us to the music. Yes, we’ll be using copies of the new Hymnal ourselves. Heidi is a pastor of a local church AND has served as director of a  women’s chorus that includes in its repertoire a range of world music. Her love of non-traditional music and her gentle ability to draw persons of every range of talent into singing will bless us. Bring your own instruments and join in the worship.  More…
