A documentary about hunger in Indiana

Food, Insecure

Join the Conversation: Host a Screening of Food, Insecure

Food, Insecure is a powerful 30-minute documentary exploring the root causes of hunger in Indiana—and how we, as communities of faith, can help drive long-term solutions. Created as a follow-up to the regional Emmy-nominated The Working Hungry, this film invites churches and congregations to go beyond charity and into deeper conversations around wages, equity, and systemic change.

Since its release in late 2024, nearly 80 screenings have been hosted or scheduled across Indiana. The response has been inspiring:

  • 90% of audience members said the film deepened their understanding of systemic hunger.
  • 84% said they were very likely to take action following the screening.

Communities are using the film to spark new advocacy efforts, engage local leaders, and build cross-sector partnerships.

We believe Presbyterian churches can continue to lead these vital conversations. To support you, we’ve created easy-to-use resources (all on our website):

  • Free streaming access to Food, Insecure and The Working Hungry
  • Screening and discussion guides
  • Planning tools and promotional materials
